Canadian SIP provider ThinkTel today announced the launch of Surecall, an industry first that allows customers to receive calls despite outages affecting their Internet connection, on-site PBX, or service provider outages. The service automatically works to detect an outage and redirect all inbound calls to alternate predetermined “PSTN” numbers such as mobile phones or analog backup lines. Surecall is available exclusively with ThinkTel’s SIP Trunking service.
Surecall provides an easy, reliable alternative to costly redundancy structures traditionally used in telephony. Alternate numbers can either be updated manually or can be programmed to synchronize seamlessly with a company’s existing employee directory system, such as through their existing Microsoft Exchange system.

Traditionally businesses have used expensive PBX redundancy equipment to ensure continuity.
